5:30pm Steve Scott: Street Photography Exhibition Athenry Park
Meet Steve Scott in Athenry Park and see his exhibition on Street photography.
Steve Scott is a passionate and experienced street and documentary photographer from Athenry. His work has been published in magazines and galleries throughout Ireland.
He started his journey in photography at the age of 16 when he borrowed his father's Canon SLR camera and started taking images of his daily surroundings.
Over the years, Steve has been experimenting with all kinds of photography genres until a few years ago where he discovered - Street Photography.
Since then, Steve has ventured into documentary photography which allowed him to go much deeper into the genre. In as much he became part of his subject’s life which is the essence of the image.
Steve quotes that ‘In my photos I record everyday life in public; I tell human stories which are also my stories, my world. Pieces of life captured in milliseconds. I become the storyteller’.
The result of Steve’s work is the Facebook page ‘Inspired Street Photography’ which connects him to a world-wide group of inspired photographers and views on street photography. This in turn helps him to learn and grow as a photographer.

Maddens Forge has been the heart of the community of Athenry for over 100 years.
It was a place of heat, smells and hard labour as the blacksmith of the town created, mended everyday objects and shoed the horses of local farmers.
Since Eamon Madden senior retired, the Athenry Heritage Centre has preserved the building and its contents so that it can be viewed by visitors and locals alike.
For many, the forge was a community hub where gossip was heard and opinions made or just a place to talk the talk.
For Culture Night, there will be a unique opportunity to hear the stories of Eamon Madden, the nephew of the last blacksmith of Athenry.
Spaces are limited for each talk and tickets are available through Eventbrite.
Each presentation commences on the hour: 5:30pm & 6:30pm
